The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Richard Purdy of Jackson. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Charles Barton of Raymond.

The bride, escorted by her father, wore her mother’s wedding gown that was redesigned by Kay Lee. The strapless candlelight Dulcette satin gown was styled with an Alencon lace bodice and appliqued with lace, pearl, and crystal motifs that accented the scalloped lace hemline and detachable chapel train. The cathedral-length veil was attached to a clasp of satin roses and pearls. The bride carried a bouquet of white and ivory roses and peonies and wore the pearl necklace and earrings given her by her late grandmother, Catherine Ritchie Purdy. Her pearl bracelet was a wedding gift from her grandfather, John Robert Smith.

Susanna Grey Purdy, the bride’s sister, served as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Erin Thyra Carter and Jaime Testino Edwards. The bridesmaids wore strapless organza gowns of Carolina blue with embroidered detailing on the bodice and carried bouquets of yellow roses, white asters, and blue delphinium.

David Charles Barton, the groom’s father, served as best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s brother, David George Barton, and Lieutenant Joshua Philip Manchester.

Officiating at the ceremony was Rev. John Evans. Catherine Ann Cox and Robert Smith Murphree read passages from the Smith family Bible belonging to the bride’s grandfather. William Dean Sanders, Jr. and Melissa Caroline Murphree provided ceremonial music. Carson Boswell Montgomery and Lieutenant Eric Matthew Harbaugh served as ushers.

After the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Old Capitol Inn, featuring the Bluz Boys Band. Guests used yellow fabric pens to sign a blue tablecloth for the couple. Floral arrangements in silver throughout the Old Capitol Inn repeated the yellow, blue, ivory, and white color scheme.

After their honeymoon in Bali, the couple is at home on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.
