A recent brochure published by the South County Economic Development Council extols the dozens of downtown businesses that offer services connected to weddings, including gown and formal wear retailers, florists, jewelers, caterers, bakeries and beauty salons.

The area also is home to photographers and videographers “to help make the memories of your wedding day last for years to come,” the brochure says.

The South County Economic Development Council was formed in 1989 by a group of South Bay business and community leaders to boost the area’s economy.
